Transformation – the call of the Soul

Transformation is the call of the soul—an awakening to the deeper currents of life’s mystery. It is not a task to complete or a mountain to climb but a journey of becoming, where we are invited to shed the old and make room for the new. Akke-Jeanne explores the layers of transformation with wisdom and care in her course at Jung Platform.

At the heart of transformation lies the tension between what has been and what longs to emerge. Life often speaks through these moments of tension. It may come as a whisper in the quiet hours or as a loud and undeniable wake-up call. Whether through loss, longing, or a sudden shift, the soul’s desire for growth and wholeness calls us to pay attention.

True transformation does not rush forward or bypass the shadows. Instead, it moves with the rhythm of the body and the psyche. It invites us to slow down and attend to the small, often hidden, movements within. This work requires courage, as it often involves confronting the parts of ourselves we would rather avoid. Yet within these shadows lie the seeds of new life.

The process begins with disruption, often appearing as a break in the familiar patterns of our lives. This may be the end of a relationship, the loss of a role or identity, or an unshakable sense that something within us must change. These moments are not failures but invitations—a signal that the old container no longer holds who we are becoming.

One of the most challenging stages is what Jungian psychology calls ego death. Here, we are asked to let go of the masks and roles that have defined us. This is not a loss of self but a descent into the depths where the true self waits to be discovered. Marion Woodman reminds us that “without the journey into the depths, the butterfly could never emerge from the cocoon.”

The descent into the underworld is a recurring theme in myth and psyche. Persephone’s journey to the underworld, Inanna’s descent, and the phoenix’s cycle of death and renewal all speak to the necessity of going inward. This descent is not a punishment but a sacred invitation to engage with the soul’s deepest truths.

Transformation also requires attention to the body. The body holds the stories we have forgotten, the wounds we have ignored, and the wisdom we need to heal. Physical symptoms, feelings of heaviness, or a sense of restlessness may emerge as signals that something within us is asking to be seen. Listening to the body grounds us in the present and anchors the transformative process.

The myths of renewal remind us that transformation is not only about loss but also about rebirth. In the final stages of the process, we begin to integrate the lessons of the descent. New insights, a deeper sense of purpose, or a clearer connection to the soul’s path may emerge. These gifts are not an end but a beginning—a step toward greater wholeness.

The course also includes practices to support this journey. One powerful exercise involves standing with one foot in the past and the other in the future. This embodied reflection helps us balance the threads of who we have been with the possibilities of who we are becoming. It reminds us that transformation is not just a mental process but an integrated experience of mind, body, and soul.

Akke Jeanne Klerk brings a unique blend of compassion and depth to this exploration. Her teaching gently guides participants into the heart of transformation, offering tools and insights that resonate deeply with the soul’s yearning for growth.

Transformation is not a linear path or a simple process. It is a dance between the known and the unknown, a dialogue between the conscious and the unconscious. It calls us to honor life’s cycles of death and renewal, to embrace both the light and the shadow within. This course offers a space to engage with these themes and to listen deeply to the wisdom that arises.

For those standing at the threshold of change, this course offers a meaningful pathway. It is a guide through the sacred process of transformation, reminding us that the soul’s journey is one of continual unfolding. By attending to the whispers of the soul and the rhythms of the body, we move closer to the essence of who we truly are.
